Edmonton Valve Gives Back This Holiday Season
by Katie Reid on Tue, Dec 22, 2015 @ 10:12 AM
As we approach the end of the year, we reflect on some recent Edmonton Valve charitable activities
Pictured above are some (not all) of our amazing associates that got hairy for the month of November - nice work guys!
It got 'hairy' at Edmonton Valve
This past November, some of our associates participated in "Movember" and we wanted to thank everyone who was involved in our first official Movember fundraising attempt. Whether you were attempting to grow some facial hair, or one of the lovely ladies helping to judge the participants on the best stache or longest neckbeard, or even if you were just there for 'moral support' - every bit was appreciated.
We raised over $500 and Edmonton Valve generously matched our donation, in total raising over $1000! This money is used to help change the face of men's health by tackling their biggest health issues including mental health, physical activity, prostate and testicular cancer. Since 2003 the Movember Foundation on a global scale has raised over $677 million and helped fund over 1,000 programs.
We were excited to finally be a part of this movement and we are looking forward to next year with getting more of our associates involved to raise money for an important cause.
Hockey for the Stollery
As Stompin’ Tom says, there’s nothing like the ‘Good Ol’ Hockey Game’ to bring out the competitive nature in those who love to play the game. Now pit two companies against each other in a friendly challenge, throw in some pre-game trash talk and an opportunity to raise some money for charity and what have you got? Well, a pretty great afternoon, that’s what you got!
On December 9th, team members of Vanko Analytics and Edmonton Valve and Fitting took to the ice in an epic battle for bragging rights and to raise money for the Stollery Children’s Hospital. Fueled by pizza and Gatorade the two teams set aside their competitive desire to crush one another long enough to stand together at center ice for the historic moment to be captured on camera. But, after that, the gloves were off and amongst typical chirps of the hockey initiated, the puck was dropped.
What happened during the game is here nor there. Sure maybe one of the teams recruited ex-professional players and maybe the other team consistently got away with dirty plays and uncalled penalties. But history will only record the ultimate winner of this game, The Stollery. The early returns on total fundraising efforts show more than $2500 being raised to date. A fine showing for a fun afternoon out at the rink!
Snowmen crates
Edmonton Valve and Fitting has some great associates, and those associates have great families! One of which is taking our tubing crates and refurbishing them into Snowmen!
If you have seen our tubing crates, it's hard to picture how they can turn into these magical snowmen. So you can just imagine how much work is put into detailing these beautiful winter decorations. And what's even more amazing is that the snowmen are made for those who are in need and distributed through their church. If the cute snowmen haven't put a smile on your face, we imagine that last part did!
Thank you for taking something so simple like a wood crate and turning it into something beautiful and sharing it with the community. We think that's recycling in its best form!
